According to this post on Message from the KINGDOM (the KH series official news site - rss feed at

message_f_t_kingdom_feed), there's two new things slated for release!

The first is KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5 ReMIX-!
It's a remake of KH, CoM, and 358/2 Days, for the PS3! Release date supposed to be sometime next year.

The second is KINGDOM HEARTS for PCブラウザ（仮称） [KINGDOM HEARTS for PC Browser (temporary name)]
Which is some sort of online game!*

Thoughts? Feelings? OMG flail? |D

* I think this one has you make your own character, rather than play as Sora (or someone else), but I have to be somewhere soonish so I figured I'd make this post before I left, even if I don't have time to translate the whole article properly. I'll update the post when I've done a full translation, however!

From what I know the PS3 plays *PS* games just fine (if region-locked), it's just the PS2 ones you can't use.

I just don't even know.

Some of the early PS3s played PS2 games, too. So it's not a technical difficulty or anything. :| Conscious choice!

It's a conspiracy. Now I'm getting on the game maker's backs, because they're in on it. If the consoles are not backwards compatible, then they get to remake old games and make people BUY THEM AGAIN. So they get paid twice for games, and we addicted gamers have to buy the games twice.

(Or an indefinite number of times... because what happens when the PS 4 comes out? Or the PS5... 6... 7... 8?)

Oooh, yeah, wisdom teeth. That's important. I had that done a few years ago (I was almost 30 then, it was waaaay too late, but I had to get it done).

IIRC, the backwards-compatible PS3s actually have PS2 hardware in them to be able to play those games, so it might have been a cost thing?

I AM BEYOND EXCITED AT THIS PROSPECT.

Although it means I'm going to have to buy a PS3 again. I just wish, like some people above me, that ALL PS3s were backwards compatible, instead of just the original 60GB version (at least that's all it was here in the UK).

Someone on tumblr said something about it not being released outside of Japan, but I'm hoping they just meant about it not having an EU/US release date, which isn't necessarily the same thing as "not being released outside of Japan".

Fingers crossed they don't screw us over like they did with the Final Mixes. I would REALLY LIKE KHFM+ in HD. *_*

Hahaha yeaaah, truedat. I'm lucky in that I can use my Siblings - I'm pretty much the only one that uses it for gaming, wtf, it got bought because it was cheaper than a blue-ray player at the time, since it was being sold super cheap second hand - but it does make me REALLY WANT my own, so I can play WHENEVER I WANT.

There's no non-Japan release date on it, no. But that doesn't mean it *won't* be, just that it's not confirmed. I guess we'll find out! (If nothing else, PS3 games aren't region-locked, from what I've heard, and they're games we've played before, so even if you don't speak Japanese...)

Honestly I'll probably only get the JPN release anyway, like I have the past couple of games, so~

Can I set my hopes unrealistically high that the COM reremake will ditch the godawful card battle system so I can actually play it? 8D;;; And slightly less high but still perhaps unrealistic, that they'll fix a lot of the camera angle and control issues from KH and Days?

But other than that, ALL THE SQUEES! Because HD KH & especially Days? DO WANT.

And if there were a KH PC game where you played as your own character... omfg waaaaaaant. (WHAT IF IT'S AN MMORPG?! OMFG WAAAAAAANT)

Yeah. Well… it's more the ingame stuff, run cycles and all that? (Seriously, my wishlist for the FFX remake is a better run cycle and maybe being able to actually play blitzball. I can dream!)

NO IDEA I don't know anything about that kinda thing. (Heee, should be interesting, though. I wonder why X? Why not like. V, I don't think that's had a rerelease? Or if it's limited to things originally released on the PS2, I'd like to see IX, and also I think I may have heard that the VII fandom wants one...)

Uhh V had a rerelease on the GBA, but gosh I would love shiny graphics for all the jobs… *_* Wasn't IX PS1? (It was sometime towards the end of the GBA's run- I think someone made a comment about the GBA being the second console VI had been the last from Square on… so I'm not sure how much they were in the shops. I gotta pick it up sometime, somehow… ^^ Heh, yeah, just a few!)
